Can succulents live in fish tank?

Well it’s a question that is asked a lot and because succulents are very hardy plants and can live in hot areas without a problem most people think they can tolerate every situation which is completely wrong!!

However, you can grow the succulent you want in fish tank if you consider some important things, first you need to completely clean you fish tank and fill it with your desired rocks but first be sure that you cleaned the rocks carefully because we don’t want any bacteria on the rocks to cause our plants death.

After cleaning rocks and fish tank carefully, it is time for choosing succulents to grow them in the tank I myself prefer using these succulents, some Echiveria, a couple of Senecio mandraliscae, two or three different Sempervivum, a tall border Sedum, Sedum Cauticola and Sedum Voodoo, these are all my preferences yours might differ from mine so go ahead and fill the tank with any kind of succulent you want and design it as you desire.

Now you are ready to fill fish tank with water, have in mind that because fish tanks are made with glass extreme cold can lead the tank to shatter so be careful if you living in cold areas with really cold winters.

Another thing you need to be careful that because fish tank doesn’t have drainage you need to change the water every one or two weeks to avoid root rot. Also keep the tank away from direct sunlight for two reasons, first is that direct sunlight will damage some succulents, shady places are the best, and second is that it will make water hot and hot water will damage your succulents roots and it might lead your succulent to not be as glorious as it should be.
